Emmanuel Dennis and Innocent Bonke are both doubtful for Super Eagles' coming 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone which will be played at the Abuja stadium.
Having lost the chance to play in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Super Eagles players will start their quest to qualify for the coming Nations Cup under new coach Jose Peseiro.
The 62-year-old Portuguese manager started his work with the Super Eagles with a defeat against Mexico as they also lost to Ecuador in the international friendly games played in America.
All players invited for the game against Sierra Leone on Thursday are currently training in Abuja ahead of the big encounter.
And according to the report on Complete Sports, Emmanuel Dennis and Innocent Bonke did not train with the Super Eagles on Monday, 6 June due to fitness issues.
Dennis recently recently recovered from injury which made him miss Watford's last Premier League games of the season.
However, he featured for the Super Eagles in the second half of their last international friendly game against Ecuador.
Nigerians divided over names of invited Super Eagles players for forthcoming AFCON 2023 qualifiers
Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how a number of Nigerians have besieged the comment section of NFF’s post announcing that 27 players have been invited for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe.
The Super Eagles host the Lone Stars on Thursday, June 9 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja and then play away to Sao Tome and Principe on June 13.
