Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane believes that South Africa has no business not qualifying for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast
Bafana Bafana has to get past the number two-ranked team on the continent in Morocco and unfancied Liberia in Group K. The lessening of the workload getting to West Africa next year in June is down to Zimbabwe being thrown out of the group by CAF because of problems which have beset the football federation of the country.
According to Kick Off, Mosimane, a former Bafana coach, said:
"Let's be patient, but I think we should qualify for the Cup Of Nations this time. I mean guys you can't tell me we can't beat Liberia, we only have to beat Liberia that’s all. It's three teams remaining, forget Morocco, they will beat Liberia home and away, you know that so let's beat Liberia here and let's try not to lose in Liberia to qualify.
"One win with one draw then you are in the Cup of Nations. We are just three teams, so we can't miss this train, we are there, Hugo doesn't have an excuse. That one is delivered, it is in the bag."
Infamously as per IOL, Bafana failed to qualify for the 2012 edition of the tournament under Mosimane having mistakenly assumed they had made it, to much embarrassment.
