Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed that he gave his runners-up medal to a photographer after losing the CAF Champions League final to Wydad Athletic Club on Monday.
During the medal ceremony and trophy handover conducted by CAF president Patrice Motsepe - Mosimane's former boss at Mamelodi - Al Ahly players were seen quickly removing their runners-up medals from around their necks. Current Sundowns senior coach Steve Komphela called it a lack of respect shown by the players as he shared his views on Twitter.

FootballAccording to Sport24, Khompela said in a tweet:
"It's so disgusting watching players given medals and disrespectfully pulling them out of their necks. Lack of respect. Class? No matter how you feel, you must always maintain class, dignity and respect. So sad."
Mosimane said in a lengthy interview with the SABC Sport:
"I don't play for silver medals; I play for gold. Don't give me a silver medal, I don't want it. I took my silver medal off, I gave it to the photographer."
The highly successful coach has been the subject of much controversy in recent months. He appears to be the target of disgruntled former Al Ahly players who want to see him sacked despite his near-unmatched achievements with the Egyptian giants since moving to Cairo in late 2020.
