- The siege on Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane by legends of the club does not look like it will end any time soon
- Mosimane's charges missed out on a third consecutive CAF Champions League title on Monday in a defeat to Moroccan team Wydad Casablanca
- This only intensified the inexplicable pressure on the South African from the Red Devil's ex-players despite his successful stay in Egypt
It never seems to rain but pour for Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane when it comes to a sizeable clique among the club's former players demanding his sacking.
The South African has been under a barrage of criticism from some players now considered as legends of the Egyptian giants. This is despite the highly successful reign he has enjoyed in Cairo since arriving in late 2020.
Following the disappointing 2-0 loss to Morocco's Wydad Casablanca on Monday evening, IOL reported that former player Taha Ismail believed that Mosimane's reign should be ended at the end of the season, saying:
"Mosimane must leave the club. it's over. He shouldn't keep his position until the end of the season. Last season he lost the league to Zamalek despite being ahead and this season, the team is losing points again."
This was not long after Egypt and AL Ahly defending great Wael Gomaa said that Mosimane's game management was not up to scratch, as per Soccer Laduma.
Yet another ex Al Ahly player calls for Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane to be fired despite his success in Egypt
No one would blame Pitso Mosimane if he believed that there was a cabal of former Al Ahly players who want him gone from the club pronto.
As reported on Sports Brief, in recent months, several ex-Red Devils players have made utterances through Egyptian media calling for Mosimane's sacking for the most mundane and baseless reasons.
Legendary Pharaohs and Ahly defender Wael Gomaa, said recently that Mosimane's game management was not up to scratch. Another star in the form of Taha Ismail disingenuously criticised the Mosimane for Ahly falling behind rivals Zamalek early in the Egyptian Premier League.
