  • Hulking Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku is rumoured to be on the way back to Italy ahead of the 2022-23 season
  • His big-money move back to Chelsea has not been a success, with the club he left Inter Milan believed to be seeking him on loan
  • He joined the Blues last year for a club-record fee of £98m from the Nerazzurri after an impressive stint in the Serie A

Romelul Lukaku is reportedly on the way back to Italy's Serie A if reports from that country are to be believed.

The 29-year-old Belgian has been underwhelming since rejoining Chelsea from Inter Milan for a mammoth club-record fee of £98m last year. He managed to bag just eight goals in the Premier League, a far cry from his prolific stay with the Nerazzurri.

According to the Daily Mail UK, Lukaku is in for a loan move back to Inter. Quoting the La Gazzetta dello Sport, the article stated that Lukaku would earn £6.4m-a-year in wages, lower than the £10.2m plus £2.5m in add-ons he earns with Chelsea - a definite drop of £3.8m.

He is said to be looking for regular game time with the 2022 FIFA World Cup later this year in mind for what might be Belgium's "Golden Generation's" last realistic shot at international honours.

The Mirror recently reported that Lukaku parted ways with his agent Federico Pastorello a few days ago ahead of the proposed loan move.

Romelu Lukaku: Chelsea striker fires agent as he seeks to move back to Inter Milan

Romelu Lukaku has cut off ties with his agent as he steps up his efforts to seal an Inter Milan comeback.

As reported on Sports Brief, the Chelsea striker wants to exit the club this summer and is said to be pulling all stops to make that happen. Lukaku has now severed ties with Federico Pastorello, the agent who has been in charge of his transfers.

He has now turned to Sebastien Ledure who is a lawyer by profession as he angles for a San Siro return.
