Gareth Bale has penned a heartwarming farewell message to Real Madrid as he brings his nine-year stint with Real Madrid to an end.
The Welshman is among a raft of players exiting the newly-crowned European champions following the expiration of their contracts with Los Blancos.
In a post on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, Bale expressed his gratitude to the Madrid faithfuls in a heartwarming message.
Bale is fondly remembered for his spectacular overhead kick goal in the 2018 UEFA Champions League finals against Liverpool.
Bale's heartfelt tribute to Real Madrid
"I write this message to say thank you to all my teammates, past and present, my managers, the backroom staff and to the fans that supported me," he said on Twitter.
"I arrived here nine years ago as a young man who wanted to realise my dream of playing for Real Madrid. To wear the pristine white kit, to wear the crest on my chest, to play at the Santiago Bernabeu, to win titles and to be part of what it's so famous for, to win the Champions League."

The Welshman has enjoyed a highly successful but tumultuous period during his nine-year stay at Real Madrid. He has won four Champions League titles and three La Liga trophies with the Spanish giants.
Many will remember his heroic performance in the 2018 final when he came off the bench to help Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in the final. He did so with spectacular goals, one an overhead kick and the other one, an effort from way out.
