The Super Eagles failed to fly in their friendly match against Mexico at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Dallas, as the North American side won the tie 2-1.
It was Jose Peseiro’s first match in charge of the Nigerian national team since he was appointed technical adviser by the NFF.
World Cup-bound Mexico began the encounter on a desperate note and opened the scoring in the 12th minute courtesy of Santiago Gimenez’ strike.
Nigeria restored parity in the 53rd minute after Cyriel Dessers headed home Calvin Bassey’s delicious cross to make it 1-1.
The Super Eagles were still in a celebration mood and less than two minutes later William Troost-Ekong scored inside the Eagles’ net to put Mexico 2-1 ahead, Complete Sports reports.
Despite the loss, Iwobi believes there were positives to take from the game.

The Eagles have now failed to beat Mexico in six meetings, losing three and drawing three. Next up for Peseiro and his boys is another friendly against Ecuador on June 2 in New Jersey.
