NFF Silent Over Contract Details of New Super Eagles Coach Amid Speculations Poseiro Earns $70,000 Monthly

Nigerians are growing increasingly agitated by Nigeria’s Football Federation’s decision not to release the financial details of the contract signed with Jose Poseiro.

The 62-year-old Portuguese manager was announced by Nigeria’s football body as the new head coach for the Super Eagles on Sunday, May 15.

The announcement put an end to the long search for a permanent manager for the Super Eagles since the sacking of Gernot Rohr by the football body in December 2021.

According to a report via Punch, Jose Poseiro is believed to have been offered a $70,000 monthly deal by the Nigerian football federation.

The Portuguese manager is to begin his role as the new Super Eagles coach when the Super Eagles travel to the United States for their upcoming international friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador.

Sao Tome and Principe disqualified in Super Eagles’ qualifying group

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s opponents in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Sao Tome and Principe have been disqualified from the competition by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).

According to Daily Post, CAF disqualified São Tomé and Principe, from the qualifiers for fielding an ineligible player against Mauritius during their preliminary round fixture.

The Super Eagles will now take on Mauritius alongside Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau in Group A of the AFCON qualifiers.

NFF appoints José Peseiro as head coach of Super Eagles

Earlier, Sports Brief reported the Nigeria Football Federation on Sunday, May 15, announced the appointment of Mr Joeé Santos Peseiro as the new Head Coach of the Senior Men National Team, Super Eagles.

The appointment comes with immediate effect, subject to the signing of agreed terms between the NFF and Mr Peseiro.

Peseiro played as a striker in his days and has wide and varied experience coaching top Clubs and National Teams across four different continents, namely Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
