FootballBobby Motaung Not Giving Away Much Regarding Transfers, Says Arthur Zwane Has a "Clear Mandate" in 2022/23
- Kaizer Chiefs' football manager Bobby Motaung has revealed the “clear mandate” given to the club’s new head coach Arthur Zwane and his assistant Dillon Sheppard
- The duo was officially unveiled as the permanent head and assistant coach of the club respectively ahead of next season
- Despite the club's acquisitions being something of an open secret, Motaung chose to remain coy about their confirmation
With the impending arrival of several players, Bobby Motaung remained mum on Kaizer Chiefs’ transfer dealings.
The club's football manager was speaking during a press conference held at Soccer City, where the Phefeni Glamour Boys announced Arthur Zwane as their new head coach for the next three years, with Dillion Sheppard taking up the role of the assistant coach.
According to Soccer Laduma, he was coy about revealing if Chiefs had indeed signed Siyethemba Sithebe, Ashley Du Preez, and Zitha Kwinika, with Samir Nurkovic, Kearyn Baccus and Lazarous Kamobole believed to be on their way out at Naturena.
He said:
“Can I allow that surprise, the news, to happen at the right time? Today we are announcing the coaches. Fortunately, as I said, they’ve been part of the acquisitions that are coming in. And when we make an announcement of who’s coming and leaving, they’d have been part of it.
“Fortunately, as I said, they’ve been part of the acquisitions that are coming in. And when we make an announcement of who’s coming and leaving, they’d have been part of it. Even those [players] who have been released, they are part of the decisions.
"So, let’s allow the issue of the players to be announced properly in due course.”
Meanwhile, Motaung told SowetanLIVE that the mandate to Zwane and Sheppard was clear with regards to what was deemed a success next season, saying:
"There’s a seven-year trophy drought and supporters are looking forward to achieving something. So, it’s a continuation — they are coming into a system they have been part of. And it’s about success, achieving and winning trophies.

FootballThat’s one of the reasons we decided to keep them and let them lead because they’ve raised their hands and they know what we are facing.”
