Paul Scholes is not a fan of Edinson Cavani.
The Red Devils’ legend commented on the Uruguayan’s final season at the club and his conduct during the season. Cavani is set to leave the club after signing a one-year contract extension with United at the start of the season.
Cavani only scored twice this season and withdrew himself from certain games midway through the season. Scholes has taken issue with this attitude, The Mirror reported.
"Cavani I think was a disgrace this year, he hardly ever played. He pulled out of the Middlesbrough game because he had to travel back from wherever he was. It’s been embarrassing,” he said.
Scholes also touched on how new manager Erik ten Hag would need backing at the club, but that there was no one to give him that.
Cavani’s game time has been limited at United since Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival. Cavani also had to give up his number 7 squad number to the Portuguese international, a decision he wasn’t happy with. United at the time reported that the Uruguayan had voluntarily given up the shirt.
The Express, however, reports that Cavani was ready to quit Old Trafford after he was asked to part ways with the iconic number 7.
