Patrice Evra launches scathing attack against Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola over top players
FootballManchester United Legend Hits Back at Pep Guardiola Again, Downplays His Champions League Success
- Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has hit back at Pep Guardiola by suggesting he only ever won the Champions League because he had Lionel Messi
- Guardiola recently claimed his Barcelona team ‘destroyed’ Evra’s Manchester United in the 2011 Champions League
- Patrice Evra initially accused the Spaniard of not being able to train people with personality
Patrice Evra has reignited his ongoing feud with Pep Guardiola after claiming on Saturday the Manchester City manager won the Champions League because of Lionel Messi.
It is the latest jibe in a war of words between the former United left-back and the City manager which has been brewing for the last couple of weeks.
Evra earlier berated Guardiola, saying the tactician is unable to train players with personality following Manchester City's defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League.
The Frenchman's comments drew a brutal response from Guardiola who referenced the personality he had seen at City and suggested Evra had been lacking from such characteristics himself when Barcelona 'destroyed' United in the 2011 Champions League final.
And now in a scathing response to the 51-year-old’s comments, has hit back once again by suggesting Guardiola is not 'a great person.'
“I didn’t understand to be honest," Evra told MEN Sport as quoted by Manchester Evening News.
"I am not watching that much in the media, and then a friend sends me Guardiola talking about ‘maybe Patrice Evra wants a job’ and then after ‘we destroyed them with Barcelona’.
"I am talking about players when they played with him and they always say he has been a problem. What I said was nice, but now if you want to go talk, I will talk. I don’t see any City player who loves him.
"He is a genius, but as a person, I don’t know him personally. I was surprised he even had time to answer to Patrice Evra, I am a retired player, I am doing my job. I was a little surprised. But me, I am always happy, I don’t have any hate in my heart. But when people want to do some banter, I am ready for that.

Football"By the way, he wins because he had Xavi, Iniesta and [Lionel] Messi. Of course you’re going to win the Champions League. But since he don’t have them, it is a long time ago he won the Champions League.”
Pep Guardiola Hits Back at Patrice Evra’s Claims He Can’t Train People With Personality
Sports Brief earlier reported that Pep Guardiola has responded to Patrice Evra’s jibe at him suggesting he can’t train players with big personalities following Manchester City’s capitulation in the UEFA Champions League.
The ex-Manchester United defender had taken the swipe at the 51-year-old manager as he noted that Manchester City's current squad is severely weak in leaders.
According to a report via the Daily Mail, Guardiola revealed Evra is being so bold with his comments so he could earn a job back at his former club Manchester United.
