Real Madrid played an underwhelming draw in their final home game of the season as they were held to a goalless draw by Real Betis.
In their earlier league encounter this season, Los Blancos managed a narrow 1-0 win at the Benito Villamarin, thanks to a Dani Carvajal goal but failed to find the back of the net at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team had been crowned champions of the Spanish La Liga weeks prior to their final home game and were therefore under no pressure to perform under an expectant crowd at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Betis continued their impressive record against Real Madrid as they extended their record of not conceding at the Bernabeu for the sixth year in a row.
How it happened at the Santiago Bernabeu
Carlo Ancelotti had fielded a strong starting line-up against Betis with Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo starting upfront for Real Madrid.
The first chance of the game fell to Karim Benzema in the 8th minute but the French striker saw his effort well blocked b the Betis defense.
The away side responded in the 15th minute as Guido Rodriguez has a go from distance, but his deflected effort is straight at Courtois.
Ancelotti made a double substitution at the break by substituting Casemiro and Kroos for Camavinga and Valverde but to no avail for the Spanish champions.
The Best chance of the game fell to Benzema in the 51st minute, but Rui Silva made an excellent save to deny the league’s top scorer and Rodrygo failed to capitalize on the rebound.
