There was mild drama at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday as the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu stated that he had been a fan of Liverpool Football Club from childhood.
Liverpool have forced this season’s Premier League title decider until the final matchday following their 2-1 win over Southampton.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that Nnamdi Kanu made this disclosure when his lawyer Mike Ozekhome complained that the DSS has continued to prevent his client from having enough time for visitation in detention.
And while addressing his concern, Justice Nyako joked that she used to support Liverpool and asked the lawyer about his favourite club.
Daily Post reports that Nyako then faced Kanu and asked if he was a fan of Chelsea Football Club given his penchant for the designer outfit he kept wearing to court.
Kanu responded:
“My team is Liverpool even from age of seven.”
The judge then told the DSS legal director who was in court to allow Kanu to watch the matches of his favourite football club.
Jurgen Klopp speaks ahead of EPL final matchday
On the other hand, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has downplayed his side's Premier League title as the season enters its penultimate stage.
The Reds are currently neck-to-neck in the title race with reigning champions, Manchester City, with just one match left to end the season.
The Merseysiders took the Premier League title race to the final day of the season after they staged a comeback on Tuesday night, May 17, to silence Southampton at St. Mary's.

FootballEPL title could be decided via playoff
Sports Brief earlier reported that the English Premier League title winners of this season will be decided on the final matchday but extreme score lines could take it to a playoff match.
Premier League’s title race will go down the wire on the final day, but Manchester City are guaranteed the trophy with a victory over Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa on Sunday.
But if Villa put up a near-impossible 6-0 victory over Manchester City and then Wolves hold Liverpool to a 5-5 draw, the title will be decided via a playoff.
