Also on the list of the invited players for these two coming games are Akwa United goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka and Enyimba stopper Ojo Olorunleke.

Captain Ahmed Musa will lead the team to prosecute the matches, but striker Victor Osimhen was exempted from the squad after he reached out to the handlers.

Expressing delight after earning a national team call up for the first time, Nasiru was spotted dancing to Flavour’s song ‘Kwarikwa’ as his teammates watched on.

In a chat with Sports Brief earlier, the player said he has set his sights on “scoring free kicks for the team like former captain Jay Jay Okocha.”

He said:

''I must confess that I am very happy with the call-up I got which is a chance for me to make the country proud if selected to play against Mexico and Ecuador.
''Yes, my strength is scoring free kicks and I can step into the shoes of Okocha in the Super Eagles if I see the chance to express my ability.”
