  • Brazilian defender Marcelo was notably removed from the Lyon squad due to his flatulence behaviour
  • Reports in France suggest that the centre-back riled the staff Lyon by farting in the dressing room
  • It has been reported his laughter about it after a 3-0 defeat sparked his sacking

French club Olympique Lyon demoted their former defender Marcelo to the reserves due to persistent flatulence and immaturity in the dressing room.

The Ligue 1 side confirmed last August that the 34-year-old had been demoted to the reserves due to "inappropriate behaviour".

But according to L'Equipe, that "behaviour" has emerged as Marcelo's tendency to fart in the dressing room and laugh with his teammates about it.

Marcelo's final game for Lyon was a 3-0 defeat to Angers on matchday two, during which he scored an own goal.

After the game, the centre-back loudly farted in the dressing room after the calamitous match.

To make matters worse, he is also alleged to have laughed about it, to the ire of club legend and sporting director Juninho.

Juninho, who was not particularly close to his compatriot anyway, reacted to this by deciding, along with manager Peter Bosz, to remove him from the squad.

Marcelo's contract was later terminated at the end of January, and he has since joined relegation strugglers Bordeaux.

The Brazilian had played for Lyon since 2017, helping them reach the Champions League semi-finals in the 2019/20 season.

Ghanaian Forward Osman Bukari Wins Coupe de France With Nantes

Sports Brief earlier reported that Ghana international Osman Bukari played a vital role as Nantes claimed this season's Coupe de France on Saturday evening.

The Black Stars winger clinched his first trophy in France after Nantes recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Nice at Stade de France.

The victory means Nantes have secured their fourth Coupe de France crown and their first major trophy since 2000.
