FootballBig Day in DStv Premiership at the Top and Bottom of the Table With Top 8 and Avoiding Relegation on the Line
- The DStv Premiership might have crowned its champion already, but there is still a lot to play for elsewhere on the log table
- Swallows FC will look to climb up from the relegation battle as soon as possible in what might be the most intriguing match of the day against Amazulu
- At the other end of the table, every team playing is either looking to get into the Top 8, or struggling to stay there
The DStv Premiership title race might be over, but the remaining matches will still have consequences on the log table.
The most important match of the day is arguably Swallows FC taking on Amazulu. The Dube Birds are in 15th place on 23 points, which means that they would be in the promotion/playoff mini-tournament if the season ended today. Sixth-place Usuthu (35 points) could finish as high as third if the teams around them keep fumbling.
SuperSport United (eighth, 35 points) will do battle with Stellenbosch FC (sixth, 39 points). A victory for either side will go a long way in sealing qualification for next season's MTN 8, trying to negotiate their ways through a logjam.
Champions Mamelodi Sundowns will host Sekhukhune United (10th, 31 points) in a coronation of sorts. United might hope that the Brazilians are in third (or less) gear for the occasion, which would give them an opportunity for a win that would keep their Top 8 hopes alive.
A free-falling Kaizer Chiefs (fifth, 49 points) will welcome Marumo Gallants (11th, 31 points), with the visitors licking their lips noting the hosts' dreadful form. The Amakhosi have lost four matches on the bounce since sacking Stuart Baxter, falling out of the race for a runners-up finish. Gallants are also in with a chance of finishing within the Top 8, though this will depend on results elsewhere.

FootballDStv Premiership match report: TS Galaxy gets revenge on disappointing Orlando Pirates
TS Galaxy defeated Orlando Pirates 1-0 in an engrossing DStv Premiership encounter at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
As reported on Sports Brief, Lefa Hlongwane's goal in the 33rd minute proved enough to lift the Rockets up to 13th place with 26 points, further away from the relegation zone.
The loss was another near-fatal blow to the Buccaneers' hopes of finishing in runners-up, failing to win their last three league matches (0-0 vs Baroka FC, 0-0 vs Chippa United).
