Despite Xavi being a huge admirer of De Jong, Barca are believed to have put up the midfielder for sale in a bid to balance their books.
According to Metro UK, Old Trafford is De Jong's likeliest destination, with the Man United looking to bolster their midfield options ahead of Erik ten Hag's arrival.
However, the publication claims the Red Devils must fork out £58.5million to stand any chance of reuniting Ten Hag with De Jong at the Theatre of Dreams.
