Orlando Pirates found guilty by Disciplinary Committee, will face sanctions over Tim Sukazi incident
FootballTS Galaxy Looks to Settle Tim Sukazi Scuffle Beef With Orlando Pirates on the Pitch
- Relegation-threatened TS Galaxy and Orlando Pirates will look to settle a score this afternoon in the DStv Premiership
- The last time out in December, Pirates and Galaxy officials were involved in a scuffle outside the Orlando Stadium, bringing local football into disrepute
- The Buccaneers won that encounter, and this time around, there'll be more than pride on the line taking into account what is at stake
TS Galaxy and Orlando Pirates will collide in what will be a grudge match at the Mbombela Stadium this afternoon at 3pm inside the cauldron of the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
The Rockets and Mbombela were involved in an unpleasant DStv Premiership encounter last December that was marred by ugly scenes between Pirates security and Galaxy owner and chairman Tim Sukazi outside Orlando Stadium. The Buccaneers won that encounter 2-0.
Besides that grudge, there is also a lot to play for this afternoon. Galaxy is in 15th spot on 23 points, while Pirates sits on fourth with 40 points.
A fifteenth position finish for Galaxy would mean being involved in the relegation/promotion playoffs, which is something they would be keen to avoid at all cost. A draw would move them above Swallows FC into 14th spot, but preferably, a win would take them into 13th place above Maritzburg United.
Pirates, on the other hand, need to get their story straight if they want to reignite their hopes of finishing second, which would guarantee them CAF Champions League participation next season. The Bucs can start applying pressure on upstarts Royal AM sitting in that position with 45 points with a win today.
Winning the Confederations Cup, by rules and regulations, does not mean Champions League qualification, so Pirates has no choice but to win.
