Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is reportedly a favourite to take charge as the new Burnley boss.
The Clarets are currently without a substantive manager after they sacked Sean Dyche from the position, with Mike Jackson taking charge on a temporary basis.
Dyche was shown the door at Turf Moor following a string of poor results that saw them drop to the relegation zone.
However, Jackson has managed to steady the ship at Burnley, picking seven precious points from three matches to revive their hopes of securing their top-flight status.
Burnley set eyes on snapping up Wayne Rooney from Derby
Daily Mail now reports Burnley have made Rooney their No.1 target for the vacant managerial job at the club, with the Man United icon, believed to be more than willing to take up the role.
According to The Sun, Rooney is keen to manage in the Premier League and would be tempted to move to Burnely if the opportunity comes up.
However, the 36-year-old will have to contend with competition from several other managers who have been lined up for the Burnley job.
The managers include Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder, Sunderland's Alex Neil and ex-West Ham and Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce.
