FootballCAF Confederations Cup: Orlando Pirates Advised on How to Settle Simba FC Score
- Orlando Pirates has it all to do if the team wants its CAF Confederations Cup campaign to remain on track
- The Buccaneers are 1-0 down after the highly controversial quarterfinal first leg encounter against Tanzanian team Simba SC last weekend in the capital Dar es Salaam
- This led to a war of words that was started by an unrepentant and forthright Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi, which drew the ire of the Tanzanians
Orlando Pirates has the bit between their teeth as they hope to extend their campaign this season on the African continent.
The Buccaneers currently trail Tanzanian team Simba SC 1-0 in the CAF Confederations Cup quarterfinal tie. The controversial refereeing which seemingly went against Pirates has left a bitter aftertaste that will no doubt have an influence on Sunday night’s encounter at the Orlando Stadium.
Matters came to a head when co-coach Mandla Ncikazi was as blunt as one could get with regards to how the team was treated on and off the pitch in East Africa. Simba SC CEO Barbara Gonzalez did not waste time in firing back at the Pirates mentor in denying the claims he had made.
According to Soccer Laduma, former Pirates striker James Mothibi advised:
“You should approach any match in Africa physically and mentally prepared for what might happen. It should not only be the coach that is prepared to fight out there, but the players too should be doing so themselves on the field.
“These people have already mistreated you, so why should you smile at and laugh with them? That’s the attitude you need in such a situation.”
The second leg of the tie kicks off at 6pm local time on Sunday evening.
