Formula One legend Sir Lewis Hamilton and tennis icon Serena Williams have joined forces to purchase Premier League club, Chelsea.

The west London club is currently on sale, with a new owner expected to be ushered in in the coming weeks to take over from the sanctioned Roman Abramovich.

Former chairman of British Airways and Liverpool FC, Sir Martin Broughton, is believed to be in a pole position to take over the ownership of the club, with reports suggesting he is already in talks with the relevant stakeholders.

The role of Lewis Hamilton, Serena Williams in the Chelsea takeover bid

According to the Daily Mail, sporting superstars, Hamilton and Serena are also in the frame to be a part of the Chelsea takeover bid.

It is believed Broughton has since engaged the duo to join forces with him to complete the purchase of the Blues.

Sky News claims that Hamilton, a seven-time Formula One champion and Williams, who has won 23 Grand Slams are prepared to pledge £10million each to the deal.

Hamilton's role in the Chelsea takeover comes just months after it emerged that he is an ardent Arsenal fan.

The F1 superstar has previously spoken about his admiration of the Gunners, openly admitting he has supported them since he was young.

"I have been watching Arsenal play for a long time, being with them through the highs and lows. If I can’t keep up with the game, then my best friend will call me every day, to give me all the updates," the 37-year-old was quoted saying back in 2020.
