Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted his side could lose the Premier League title if they slip up in their remaining games.
The Citizens reclaimed top spot on the log after a comprehensive second half perfprmance saw them beat Brighton and Hove Albion 3-0.
It almost looked like Brighton would go on to frustrate Manchester City, especially after a goalless first half and the fact that Graham Potter’s side has developed a habit of upsetting the big guns in the league.
But goals from Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva in the second half were enough to give City a one-point lead over Liverpool.
Speaking after the game, Guardiola commented on the title race, saying:
"We are not stupid," Guardiola told BBC Sport. "If we draw, drop just two points, Liverpool will be champions.
"If we win all our games we will be champions. The players know it."
Having played the same number of games, Liverpool and Manchester City are only separated by one point, with the Reds in the hunt for a quadruple this season.
For Manchester City, they are still in the Champions League, but were eliminated by the same Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final.

In the 2018/19 season, City went on to win their remaining 14 league games to edge Liverpool to the title by a single point.
It looks like a similar script is playing out, with Guardiola saying his side must have the same level of focus to clinch the title.
"It happened a few years ago - we won 14 in a row to be champions. If we win all the games we will be champions," he added.
