Hellings ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango remains on the outs at Orlando Pirates, and the player is said to be unhappy at the club.
Mhango grabbed international headlines with his performances for Malawi at the African Cup of Nations but has not been given a chance to emulate that at club level for Orlando Pirates.
The Citizen reported that Mhango is counting the months until he can leave and has allegedly been promised a contract in Sweden. The Citizen spoke to a source close to the player who suggested that this was the case.
“What has happened with Gabadinho at Pirates is something that is a big problem for any player. You have to remember that his contract is coming to an end in June, so he didn’t want to sign because he feels that his time with Pirates is over.
“There are lots of things that happened at the club, and some of these things are just too personal to share. We hear about Sweden a lot, that is where he might end up because apparently he has been approached already, the source told the publication.
Mhango’s contract expires in June, but the Buccaneers have the option to extend it. Mhango has only played 195 minutes for the Buccaneers this season, registering one assist and no goals, Goal.com reported.
Mhango’s ‘behaviour’ is alleged to be the reason why he has not received more game time. It’s believed that he had a falling out with the technical team and has since been frozen out of the team.

Former Orlando Pirates star speaks out, doesn't understand why Gabadinho Mhango is omitted from the team
The 2021/22 footballing season is slowly winding down, and Gabadinho Mhango remains on the outs at Orlando Pirates, Sports Brief earlier reported.
The Malawian striker has played just four games in the DStv Premiership for the Buccaneers and doesn’t look like he will feature much for the team going forward. However, former Orlando Pirates defender, Tonic Chabalala, has since shared his thoughts.
He stated that he couldn’t understand why Mhango does not get game time at the Buccaneers. Chabalala recently questioned the logic behind not playing the striker, saying that he could not understand the player’s omission, Soccer Laduma reported.
