Brighton and Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey could switch nationality to play for the Black Stars of Ghana at the World Cup, according to GHANASoccernet.
The England youth international spoke for the first time on a possible switch after Brighton's victory over Tottenham Hotspurs at the Tottenham Stadium.
In an interview with GHANASoccernet, the 21-year-old revealed he is focused on his club career but can't confirm or reject Ghana.
“I’m not sure yet. I’ve to just keep focusing on my club football. Take a game by game and then we’ll see," he said.
Lamptey lasted 82 minutes of the game against Tottenham as Leandro Trossard's 90th minute goal earned them all three points.
The 21-year-old has represented England at the various youth levels but he is yet to play for the senior team, making him eligible to play for Ghana due to his parents.
