"After a great deal of thought, I have decided that this season will be my last with Manchester United.
"I have informed the board, the manager and the players of my decision. It has been a huge honour and a privilege to play for this great club.
"A big thank you to the fans for their unwavering support.
"I will now give everything until the end of the season to help my teammates finish as strongly as possible."

Manchester United join Arsenal in serious race to sign top Premier League defender

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Manchester United joined Arsenal in the race to sign English defender Max Aarons who currently plays for Premier League side Norwich City.

The Old Trafford landlords must however be aware that Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be monitoring Max Aarons and could make their move in the summer.

Max Aarons is currently having two more years left on his contract at Norwich City.

But with Norwich City struggling to keep their status this season in the Premier League, the club's chiefs could be open to sell Max Aarons at the end of the season.

Before the start of the ongoing Premier League season, Barcelona and Roma were said to have shown interest in signing Max Aarons, but Norwich City refused to sell.
