Former Real Madrid Star Tragically Dies Days After Horrific Car Crash

The football world has been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of former Real Madrid star Freddy Rincon.

Rincon is understood to have died in hospital days after he was admitted following a horrific car crash in his native Colombia.

According to The Sun, the 55-year-old underwent a three-hour surgery having sustained severe head injuries from the accident.

At the time, his condition was described as “critical” and had to be admitted to intensive care for proper monitoring.

Freddy Rincon pronounced dead

But barely three days after Rincon was admitted to hospital, the former footballer has been pronounced dead.

The unfortunate news was confirmed by Laureano Quintero, the head medic at Imbanaco Clinic where Rincon was receiving treatment.

Quintero announced the retired footballer passed on just before midnight on Wednesday night, April 13, local time.

“Despite all the efforts of our medical team, the patient Freddy Eusebio Rincon Valencia has died today April 13," he said via The Sun.
“We deeply regret this outcome, and at the same time offer our most sincere condolences to relatives, friends, acquaintances and fans," he added.
