Firmino Scores Brace as Liverpool Get Disappointing Result Against Benfica in UCL Battle

Premier League giants Liverpool have qualified for the semifinal of the Champions League despite been forced to 3-3 draw by visiting Benfica in their quarterfinal return leg played at Anfield.

Having won the first leg 3-1 in Portugal, Liverpool players were so confident going into the second leg considering the fact that they will be playing in front of their fans.

However, Jurgen Klopp and his wards had to wait until the 21st minute before netting the first goal against Benfica through Ibrahima Konate.

Goncalo Ramos restored parity for Benfica in the 32nd minute before Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino netted a brace to give Liverpool a good lead.

Late drama at Anfield

Liverpool fans thought they would be winning the Champions League encounter against Benfica, but the visitors fought back to score two more goals through Yaremchuk and Nunez.

The Champions League encounter eventually ended 3-3 at Anfield and Liverpool qualified for the semifinal on 6-4 aggregate.

Quinton Fortune to feature in Manchester United vs Liverpool legends match

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Quinton Fortune is back in red.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder will feature for Manchester United against Liverpool next month in a Legends of the North charity match. The fixture will take place at Old Trafford on 21 May.

The announcement was made by the Manchester United Foundation in a statement.

The remainder of the team that will make up Manchester United's contingent, as well as the full list of representatives from Liverpool is expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks ahead of the highly-anticipated exhibition match.

Fortune, who is currently employed as a technical coach at Championship side Reading, made 127 appearances for the Red Devils between 1999 and 2006 and later worked with the club's reserve team while completing his coaching badges.
