Harambee Stars could miss out on an appearance in the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Qualifiers for the 2023 AFCON are already underway, with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in July.
However, CAF has warned Kenya may not be listed among the countries that will be battling for the qualifiers owing to their FIFA ban.
Kenya, Zimbabwe slapped with FIFA ban
Back in February 2022, Kenya and Zimbabwe were handed a ban from FIFA due to governmental interference in the running of football affairs in the two countries.
In Kenya, the country's sports ministry disbanded the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) in November 2021 over alleged misappropriation of funds, with Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed appointing a caretaker committee to manage football for a period of six months.
Efforts by FIFA to have Kenya rescind the decision proved futile, with the world football governing body retaliating with the suspension of the country from all football activities.
CAF sends Kenya, Zimbabwe ultimatum
With Kenya and Zimbabwe have been placed in Pot 2 and Pot 3 of the draws to be held on Tuesday, April 19, CAF has sent both countries an ultimatum to put their houses in order or risk missing out on a spot in the 2023 AFCON.
"In case the suspension is not lifted two weeks before the match day of the qualifiers, both associations will be considered as losers and eliminated from the competition," Nation Sport quoted a CAF communication.

"Consequently their groups will be comprised of three teams. The first and the runners up of groups of these teams will qualify for the final tournament," the communication added.
World Cup trophy set for Nairobi tour
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Kenya is among a select few African countries nominated to host the 2022 World Cup trophy during a global tour.
The trophy is the original one that will be won during the 2022 edition of the global showpiece to be hosted in Qatar.
Only heads of state and players who have won the World Cup will have the privilege of having a feel of the trophy.
The trophy will be on display for two days in the capital, Nairobi, and football fans will be allowed an opportunity to take photos with it.
