- Ikpeba stated that Chelsea will win the return leg 3-2, but it won’t be enough to see them through to the semis
Former Nigerian international Victor Ikpeba has suggested that although Chelsea will defeat Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Blues will still crash out of the Champions League, Daily Post reports.
Ikpeba has tipped Los Blancos to go through to the semifinal of the competition as both teams clash on Tuesday night.
Chelsea were defeated 3-1 at the Stamford Bridge last week, with Karim Benzema netting a hat-trick on the night.
Thomas Tuchel’s side face a herculean task to upturn the result when they play their hosts in Spain, but Ikpeba believes Carlos Ancelotti’s men will eventually carry the day.
Ikpeba told SuperSports:
“Real Madrid will score two, Benzema will score two, there will be goals in that encounter. I see a 3-2 scoreline in favour of Chelsea but they will not go through.”
Ikpeba further advised Belgium International, Romelu Lukaku to leave Stamford Bridge, saying that Chelsea is not for the 28-year-old.
“I said Lukaku coming to Chelsea is a blunder. He was playing well for Inter Milan, the whole team built around him, supporting him.
“Here at Chelsea too much star players, he’s not going to get the ball every time. The style of play is so difficult, I hope he moves on because I don’t think Chelsea is a club for him.”
