Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for the Assin Central in Ghana, has revealed Spain-based duo Inaki Williams and Nico Williams are dragging their feet to play for the Black Stars because of how the media relates to players who switch nationality.

The Ghana Football Association has been in talks with the Athletic Bilbao duo as the African nation build a strong team for the World Cup later this year.

However, in an interview with Happy FM, the lawmaker who is close to the Inaki family revealed the brothers are reluctant to join the team despite showing interest in the Black Stars.

“Two boys really like me and they are in Atletico Bilbao. They are brothers," he said.
“The Ghana Football Association came to see me that I have close ties with them. They told me they want to play but the way we criticize these players is too much especially the media so they get discouraged because of that they don’t want to," he added.

The Ghana Football Association are also in talks with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Tariq Lamptey and Eddie Nketiah over switching their nationalities.

The Black Stars qualified for the World Cup in Qatar after edging rivals Nigeria in the play-off.

Former Ghana international advises Europe-born players to avoid Black Stars invite

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana Premier League legend, Charles Taylor, has urged Ghanaian players born abroad to reject any attempt to invite them to play for the Black Stars.

The Ghana Football Association [GFA] and other key stakeholders are pushing endlessly to get some talented Ghanaian players in the diaspora to switch nationality to play for Ghana at the international level.

But ex-Ghana international, Taylor, has issued a warning to these players to decline any call from Ghana football officials who would try to convince them to represent Ghana on the international stage.
