Premier League title hopefuls Liverpool are reportedly eyeing talented Villareal forward Arnaut Danjuma.

Danjuma has only been in Spain for a couple of months after securing a move to Villareal from Bournemouth last summer, but has been thoroughly impressive under Unai Emery.

According to a report on GOAL, Liverpool have identified the 25-year old as a long-term successor for Sadio Mane.

Mane, 29, currently has his Liverpool deal running until the summer of 2023, and talks to renew the deal are yet to be initiated.

This brings about the risk of the Senegalese walking away from Liverpool for free next year and if that happens, Liverpool could push for the signing of Danjuma.

For Villareal, Danjuma has been a revelation and is the club’s joint-top scorer in La Liga.

He has also been crucial for Unai Emery’s side in the Champions League, and was responsible for ending Bayern Munich’s dominance away from home with his goal on Wednesday night.

The forward is known for his strength and speed on the flanks, and would be a like-for-like replacement for Sadio Mane should be secure a move to Anfield.

The fact that he spent two seasons at Bournemouth is also a boost for the Merseyside club as it means he has experience in English football.

He is also not short of confidence as he recently boldly told The Guardian:

"it’s quite fair and factual to say I’m among the best wingers in the world".

Meanwhile, Mane continues to be a crucial player for Liverpool, and this was evident during the game against Benfica in the Champions League quarter-final.

As Sports Brief reported, Mane was on the scoresheet as Liverpool established a 3-1 first-leg win.

After the match, the Senegalese could not help but gush over his teammate Luis Diaz, who was also on the scoresheet and provided an assist for Mane’s goal.
