Emmanuel Amunike has opened up that he is ready to coach the Super Eagles in future despite working as assistant to Eguavoen who failed to qualify Nigeria for the 2022 World Cup.

After the sacking of Gernot Rohr as the coach of the Super Eagles, many Nigerians urged the Nigerian Football Federation to appoint Emmanuel Amunike as next coach, but the ruling soccer chiefs went for Eguavoen.

Coach Eguavoen was in charge of the Super Eagles at the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon where Nigeria crashed out in the knockout losing against Tunisia.

The NFF still continued their trust in Eguavoen for the 2022 World Cup play-offs against Ghana in which the Black Stars picked the World Cup ticket in Abuja.

According to the report on Brila, Emmanuel Amunike explained that it was unfortunate for the Super Eagles not to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

NFF sacks Amuneke, Joseph Yobo and entire member of Super Eagles technical crew after Eguavoen resigned

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Nigeria Football Federation relieved all members of the Super Eagles technical crew including Emmanuel Amuneke after the team failed to secure World Cup qualification.

Technical Adviser of the team Augustine Eguavoen earlier tendered his resignation to the football house, and now the NFF has told other members of the technical crew to leave with immediate effect.

In February 2022, the NFF Board approved a recommendation of the technical and development committee by retaining Augustine Eguavoen as technical director/technical adviser (interim) while Emmanuel Amuneke became the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles.

Salisu Yusuf was then drafted as the 2nd assistant coach/chief coach of the CHAN team, while former team captain Joseph Yobo was named 3rd assistant - with Aloysius Agu retaining his position as the goalkeepers’ trainer.
