French-born Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku has identified Kylian Mbappe as the toughest opponent he has faced in his career.

Plying his trade in the French Ligue 1 for Strasbourg, Djiku has been one of the most impressive defenders in the ongoing campaign.

Only Sven Botman and Nayef Aguerd have won more ariel duels than the Ghanaian defender while he also made the second-most interceptions in Europe's big five leagues in 2021 at the halfway point of the season to underline his defensive credentials.

Recounting his biggest ordeal as a defender, Djiku told Sky Sports News Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is the toughest opponent he has met.

"He looked at me and said, 'I'm not going to finish the match.' I answered, 'We'll be two,' recalls Djiku with a laugh." Alexander recounted his side's game against PSG.
"Mbappe is the toughest opponent I've faced. His speed is unstoppable." He added.

The 27-year-old multi-functional player recently played an important role in Ghana's qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Djiku formed an impermeable defensive partnership with Daniel Amartey of Leicester City as Ghana shut out a star-studded Nigerian attack led by the precocious Victor Osimhen over a two-legged tie.
