Super Eagles defender, Calvin Bassey has revealed the difference between playing in Europe and African football after making his debut for the national team.
The 22-year-old came off the bench in Nigeria's goalless draw against Ghana at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi and put up an impressive performance.
According to a report via Complete Sports, Bassey has now confessed that playing in Africa is a lot more physical compared to playing football in Europe.
“Playing in Africa is a lot more physical, it’s just adjusting to the environment, the pitch, the weather, it’s harder to breathe so it’s just adjusting to it.“
The Rangers defender also stated that the Super Eagles players are determined to win against Ghana to earn a World Cup ticket to Qatar 2022.
Nigeria has already commenced intense preparations for the second leg fixture against the Black Stars to be played at the 60,000 capacity Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Bassey not bothered about starting against Ghana
Meanwhile, Calvin Bassey is unbothered whether Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen selects him in the starting line-up for Nigeria in their second leg game against Ghana.
According to Pulse Sports, the 22-year-old defender disclosed that victory for the Super Eagles is more important rather than him starting.
The Rangers defender revealed he will fully support the coach's decision on who starts against Ghana and prays that the Super Eagles qualify for the World Cup ahead of the Black Stars.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Calvin Bassey has confirmed his readiness and that of his Super Eagles teammates for the coming two battles against the Black Stars of Ghana in the final 2022 World Cup play-off.
Super Eagles players have arrived at the Abuja camp and started training on Tuesday evening, 22 March, with coach Eguavoen monitoring all activities of his wards.
The Super Eagles have campaigned previously three times in the FIFA World Cup and they have not been able to qualify from the Group stage.
