Mali national football senior team on Friday evening, 25 March, suffered an embarrassing 1-0 home defeat against Tunisia in the first leg of their 2022 FIFA World Cup play-offs.
Playing in front of their fans and considering their superb run in the World Cup qualifiers, Malian fans were expecting a good result from their players, but they were defeated.
The home team started this encounter impressively looking for an early goal, but Tunisian defence were determined not to give any room that would to them conceding a goal.
After 15 minutes of play, Tunisians changed their styles of play to more attacking one and it paid off in the 36th minute when Moussa Sissako scored an own goal.
Four minutes after netting an own goal, Moussa Sissako was red carded by the center referee for a bad tackle.

Tunisia held on thanks to the own goal scored by Moussa Sissako which gave them a 1-0 away win and would brighten their chance to qualify for the World Cup should they fail to lose in the return leg.
