Umar Sadiq believes Nigeria will be as hungry as ever to qualify for the 2022 World Cup when they take on Ghana later this month.

The Super Eagles and West African neighbours Ghana will cross swords for the umpteenth time when both sides meet for a slot in Qatar.

Sadiq was named in Augustine Eguavoen's squad as one of the nine forwards ready to face the four-time African champions.

And ahead of the doubleheader slated for the 25th and 29th, Sadiq says the fixtures have been on his mind and he hopes the team will be adequately prepared for victory.

In an interview with Omar Sports, Sadiq said:

“I can see that everyone has been talking about it.”
“Even me, I’ve been thinking about it because it’s our life. I hope we go there ready and ready to give everything from the first to the second game.”

Sadiq made played his first game for the Super Eagles at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, coming on in the second-half substitute in Nigeria's 1-0 win over Egypt.

He scored his debut international goal in that tournament against Guinea Bissau in a group C clash.

The 25-year-old has netted five times in six games since he returned from the disappointing Africa Cup of Nations campaign with Nigeria.

In total, Sadiq has bagged 13 goals in the Spanish second division this season.

Nigeria travel to Cape Coast stadium for the first leg before they return to the Moshood Abiola Stadium four days later in Abuja.
