- Former Liverpool and ex-Chelsea star Glen Johnson has disclosed that Alli’s move to Goodison Park is the worst signing of the season
A former Premier League defender Glen Johnson has stated that the worst signing of this season is Dele Alli’s move from Tottenham to Everton, SPORTbible reports.
Alli moved to the Goodison Park in January on deadline day, in a deal that could cost the Toffees about £40 million.
It was gathered that manager Frank Lampard gambled on the transfer and it seems to have backfired as the player has only managed one appearance.
In his comments cited on BettingOdds.com, Glen Johnson criticised the transfer, claiming it hasn't worked for either party yet. He said:
"The worst one, which is a bit harsh, I'd say Dele Alli to Everton.
"It was an odd move. At first I thought it was a good signing as I thought it was a free transfer but since then we've all learned that it could potentially cost Everton up to £40 million.
"I think Dele is a good player, but are you telling me he can't get into this Everton side? I just don't understand it. He went there to play and he's not playing so it just looks odd from the outside."

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard has explained that he actually signed the duo of Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek because they are talented players and that he has trust in them.
