Alexis Sanchez's wonder goal for his country Chile against Japan on Monday, June 17, has thrown Manchester United fans into serious debate on his future at Old Trafford.

Defending champions Chile kicked off their bid for a third straight Copa America title with a 4-0 win over Japan in Sau Paulo with Sanchez scoring the third goal and setting up another in the clash.

Sanchez was not impressive for Manchester United throughout last season, managing to score only one goal.

Manchester United are understood to be willing to listen to offers for Sanchez though his staggering £400,000-a-week wages could prove a problem for any potential suitor.

A section of United supporters were however delighted to see their forgotten man get on the score sheet and urged the club to give him a second chance next season.

One said: "Is there any hope for Alexis Sanchez at United? If he stays fit we need to give him a good run in the team to see. 10 games straight."

A second posted: "Regardless of his form and injury, I genuinely think he was the one of the very few players that actually gave 100% whenever he came on for United. Hopefully we get to see prime Sanchez next season."

Another argued: "I rather have him than Rashford and Lingard. And he's only had a season and a half of which he's missed half the game. And the games he did well in were against big teams."

"Give him one more chance, he will shine," said one more fan, hoping that the Chilean will be given more opportunities to prove himself for Manchester United next season.
