KAA Gent midfielder Elisha Owusu is over the moon after earning his maiden Black Stars invitation ahead of the upcoming double-header against Nigeria.
The Olympique Lyonnais academy product was a surprise inclusion in Otto Addo's 27-man squad for the blockbuster clash later this week.
In a video spotted by Sports Brief on YouTube, the former Black Stars assistant coach expressed his readiness to help the Black Stars advance to the World Cup in Qatar.
What Elisha Owusu said
He told reporters after arriving in the country:
"I was very happy and proud. I was thinking about my parents, they are soo happy now".
"I have followed the Ghana national team for some time. It is a big achievement and a blessing to be here. I have always wanted to play for Ghana, I want to play for the country of my parents, play for Ghana.
I feel like is here I want to play that is why I waited. Every player wants to play in the World Cup and I am so excited to be here."
Owusu was born in France to Ghanaian parents and has already featured for the European country at youth levels, but he is eligible to play for the Black Stars of Ghana.
