  • Stuart Baxter has blamed his side's poor results on the fact that no fans are allowed into the stadiums
  • Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has compared his side's recent slump to the one Liverpool went through
  • Keagan Dolly also believes that no fans in the stadium are affecting how smaller teams take on the big sides

Calls for fans to return to stadiums continue to be made by players and coaches, and Stuart Baxter believes that it is the reason why his Kaizer Chiefs side are struggling for results.

Baxter explained that the team’s around the world with the biggest and most passionate supporters were suffering the most, comparing the Amakhosi’s struggles to those of Liverpool FC.

“If you look globally, during the lockdowns and the empty stadiums, I think the teams who have the most fervent supporters have suffered the most. Liverpool without their fans were a different proposition (the Reds lost a succession of home games last season),” Baxter was quoted as saying by The South African.

Baxter admitted that his team needed to find a balance and professionalism to combat not having their passionate supporter base in the stadium.

The Amakhosi did win the recent Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates but defeats to TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup and Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership overshadowed that.

Last week Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Keagan Dolly shared similar statements, The Citizen reported. Dolly noted that the smaller teams were benefiting from the supporter ban as they no longer feared playing a big team.

Dolly said last week that the smaller teams are benefiting from the current supporter ban due to Covid-19 restrictions because they are not intimidated to play big teams anymore.

“They come to FNB and it’s empty, and they don’t feel any pressure,” he said ahead of the visit from Golden Arrows, a game that Chiefs would lose.

DStv Premiership: Golden Arrows shine bright as they beat Kaizer Chiefs, Amakhosi fail to score at home

Golden Arrows kept their first clean sheet in a winning effort this season as they beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0. Golden Arrows fought valiantly and clung on to the win, no matter what Kaizer Chiefs through at them.

Knox Mutizwa gave Golden Arrows a golden start as he scored in the fifth minute of the game. The forward had Eric Matoho to thank for the chance, though the defender attempted to play a back pass but didn’t put enough power on it.

Mutizwa ran onto the ball and shot at goal, chipping Bruce Bvuma, who was way off his line. The goal came as a bit of a surprise to Chiefs as the Amakhosi started the game better, Sports Brief earlier reported.
