FootballDStv Diski Challenge Wrap: Off Form Orlando Pirates Stumbles Again as Stellenbosch FC Fails to Take Advantage
- Orlando Pirates stumbled yet again just as it seemed that their DStv Diski Challenge was back on track
- As the Buccaneers lost, Stellenbosch Football Club missed the golden chance to draw level with them on the log table
- There were also wins for Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns as no particular progress was made in the latest round of the competition
Orlando Pirates' inconsistency at the top of the DStv Diski Challenge log table continued as their wobbly second half of the season unfolds.
The Buccaneers were turned over by nemesis SuperSport United 2-1 at the Rand Stadium. Bryn Deely opened the scoring for Matsatsantsa before Cassius Spandeel equalised for the home side. Tendamudzimu Matodzi then settled the game for the visitors with a strike right on half-time.
Fortunately for Pirates, the free-scoring Stellenbosch FC right on their heels in second place couldn't get level with them on the table. The Maroons had to settle for a draw after an exciting 3-3 draw with third-placed Chippa United.
Meanwhile, the mercurial Kaizer Chiefs hammered Marumo Gallants at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. The Amakhosi rallied from being a goal down through via Sibusiso Milazi, a Mduduzi Shabalala brace and Donay Jansen to complete the rout.
mamelodi Sundowns claimed their fourth victory in their last five matches, seeing off Cape Town City 3-1 in the Mother City.
Golden Arrows and Baroka FC drew 1-1 at the Princess Magogo Stadium. Samkelo Mzolo opened the scoring for Arrows, before Tsegofatso Bosega equalised for the visitors.
