The team's formation was consequent to an exciting football match they had earlier watched.
For starters, Kumah bought a set of new jerseys, and with the co-operation from his friend, L.Y. Asamoah, they formed the Ashanti United Football Club in 1926, but five years later, he renamed it Kumasi Titanics. Unfortunately, the team did not do well for a couple of seasons as most of the players were civil servants in parastatals such as prisons and railways.
