Asante Kotoko SC's history

Whenever there is a pinpoint about the oldest soccer clubs globally, you sure have Porcupine Warriors at the top of the list. The club was founded on 31 August 1935 by 13 young Ashanti men led by a young driver, Mr. Kwasi Kumah, and L.Y. Asamoah, an electrician. The team's formation was consequent to an exciting football match they had earlier watched.

For starters, Kumah bought a set of new jerseys, and with the co-operation from his friend, L.Y. Asamoah, they formed the Ashanti United Football Club in 1926, but five years later, he renamed it Kumasi Titanics. Unfortunately, the team did not do well for a couple of seasons as most of the players were civil servants in parastatals such as prisons and railways.
