- Jamie Carragher has issued a strong warning to embattled Manchester United centre half Harry Maguire
- The English defender has been enduring a 'disasterclass' streak of performances for Manchester United of late
- Maguire has since come under intense backlash and Carragher has warned the former Leicester City man to turn a corner or his future at Manchester United might end soon
Former England and Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has issued a word of caution to his compatriot Harry Maguire following his recent string of bad performances.
Maguire, formerly of Leicester City, is enduring a torrid moment at Manchester United with his recent performances doing little to plead his course for him.
The 29-year-old scored an own goal in United's 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspurs and as if that was not enough he topped it up with a dismal showing against Atletico Madrid as the Red Devils were booted out of the Champions League.
His long stretch of poor performances has led to questions being raised about his leadership at the club with many suggesting the captain's armband should be taken away from him.
But Carragher. who works as a pundit after hanging his boots, admitted Maguire is going through a tough time but cautioned him to find his feet sooner than later hence stare at a possible exit from Old Trafford.
"He’s going through the worst moment of his career... and we’ve all been there," Carragher told CBS Sports' Golazo Show.
"I can picture it now when I was playing, and it felt like no matter what I did in a game, how I prepared for it, how well I played in a game, the one thing I’d get wrong the ball would end up in the back of the net.
"I always remember when that was, and that period of my career, and this is something that Harry Maguire is going through right now. He has to get out of it very quickly, otherwise, he won’t be at the club, because the standards at Manchester United are so high."
