Head coach of Asante Kotoko Prosper Narteh Ogum has intimated young goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad is ready for a call-up to the Black Stars.
The goalkeeping department of the four-time African champions has come under scrutiny following the below-par performance by current No.1 Jojo Wollacott.
Many suggestions have trickled in, especially as Ghana's crucial FIFA World Cup play-off against West African neighbours Nigeria draws closer.
Hearts of Oak custodian Richard Attah and Kotoko's Ibrahim Danlad have been suggested to the technical team to install either the former or the latter as Ghana's No.1 goalkeeper.
Weighing in on the discussion, Ghana Premier League coach of the month for February Prosper Ogum extolled the abilities of Danlad and pushed for his inclusion in the upcoming call-up.
“He’s a talented goalkeeper. He’s very good with the feet and the hand. Apart from that, he has some good leadership qualities. He is able to communicate well with his backline and corporate well with his backline,” coach Ogum said after his side's game against Bechem United.
“I think as my colleague (Kassim Mingle) said he (Danlad) is ready for the national team call-up.” He ended.
Danlad's performance for Asante Kotoko this season
Danlad began the campaign as a reserve goalkeeper for the current league leaders.
Following the departure of first-choice goalie Razak Abalora to Moldovan club Sheriff Tirapsol, the former Black Satellites shot-stopper was installed as the regular No.1 for the Porcupine Warriors.
Since stepping in between the sticks for Kotoko, Danlad Ibrahim has been awesome in the post and boasts of seven clean sheets in 10 games.
