Former Italian Striker Compares Top Super Eagles Star to Edinson Cavani

Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen has been compared to iconic Uruguayan striker, Edinson Cavani for former Italian striker, Sergio Pellisier.

Sergio Pellisier who had just a cap for the Italian national team but scored over 100 goals for Chievo Verona believes Osimhen can improve on his goal-scoring if he doesn't run too much like Cavani.

According to a report via Soccernet, Pellisier advised the Super Eagles striker to save up his energy if he plans on increasing his goal tally as he tends to arrive tired in the 18-yard box.

Victor Osimhen has scored a total of 11 goals for the Naples club in all competitions this season despite being sidelined for over six weeks due to a head injury.

The 22-year old forward is considered as one of the stars of Serie A with top European clubs including Real Madrid and Manchester United keeping tabs on the striker.

Osimhen cannot solve Napoli's problem

Meanwhile, another veteran Italian footballer, Arrigo Sacchi has exonerated Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen from Napoli's woes this season.

According to Pulse Sports, Sacchi beckoned on the Napoli players to play to the strength of the Super Eagles striker rather than leave him isolated upfront.

Napoli are bidding to win a first league title since 1990 but that ambition suffered a massive setback following the 1-0 loss to title challengers AC Milan on Sunday, March 7.

English Premier League Club now lead the race to sign Victor Osimhen

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Newcastle United are now leading the race to sign Nigerian international Victor Osimhen who has been impressive for Napoli.

The Super Eagles' forward joined the Italian outfit from French club Lille back in September 2020 and has been a key member under Luciano Spalletti.

Osimhen has found the back of the net 21 times in 51 appearances for the Partenopei in all competitions which have attracted interest from other clubs.
