Mamelodi Sundowns’ fans are still over the moon after their side trounced Mathaithai FC in the Nedbank Cup.
Sundowns ran out 6-0 winners thanks to goals from Surprise Ralani, Themba Zwane, Thabiso Kutumela (2), Lebohang Maboe and Andile Jali.
As Sport24 noted, it wasn’t the same result that Sundowns handed out to Powerlines FC when they beat them 24-0, but it was still a drubbing.
Fans of the Brazilians were also quick to point out that Sundowns once beat Orlando Pirates by the same scoreline, so Mathaithai FC had nothing to be ashamed about.
Sundowns beat Pirates 6-0 in a Premier Soccer League fixture in 2017, a result that angered Pirates supporters so much, that they invaded the pitch and destroyed TV cables and cameras, The South African reported.
While Orlando Pirates fans would rather forget that day, Sundowns’ supporters took to social media to bring it all up again.

FootballNedbank Cup: A scintillating 6 for Mamelodi Sundowns, Masandawana could not be tied down by Mathaithai FC
Mamelodi Sundowns brushed aside Mathaithai FC, 6-0, but the score could have been much higher had Sundowns taken their chances. In a game that Sports Brief monitored, Sundowns started on the front foot from the first minute, as they scored in the second minute of the game.
Aubrey Modiba sprinted down the right flank and got a cross into the box which Surprise Ralani got onto the end off. Ralani’s shot was originally pushed away by Mathaithai FC keeper, Mbali Tshabalala. The ball flew back towards Ralani who fired it into the back of the net.
Two minutes later, Sundowns were two up as Modiba and Ralani combined once again. Modiba found Ralani who then found Themba Zwane. Zwane put away his chance and Sundowns were up 2-0 within four minutes.
