- Since the incident, Kuffour has come under serious scrutiny for his unnecessary aggression on the Cameroonian striker
A video of Osei Kuffour's overzealous and unnecessary tackle on leading top scorer of the Ghana Premier League Franck Mbella Etouga has gone viral.
The young man who has won plaudits for his immaculate display at the heart of defence for Bechem United is currently the subject of a possible ban.
Kuffour and Mbella dashed for a loose ball with the former reaching the ball first to make a perfect clearance.
However, he opted to unleash a tackle that is synonymous with former Real Madrid guardsman Pepe on the Cameroonian import.
Despite the rough tackle, Kuffour managed to escape a booking and even proceeded to win the man-of-the-match award in his side's goalless draw with leaders Asante Kotoko.
How did the incident occur
Mbella and Osei Kuffour went in chase of a loose ball with the latter outpacing the centre forward to balloon the ball away to safety.
After making the timely clearance to rob the deadly Etouga from pouncing on the ball, Osei Kuffour lost his cool in a moment of 'madness.'
Kuffour after clearing the ball to safety decided to kick Etouga, who was already down after missing the ball.
The incident was missed by the centre referee and his assistants but the footage of Osei Kuffour's Pepe-like tackle has since gone viral.
What were the reactions of football fans to the unsportsmanlike conduct?
Football fans, especially supporters of Asante Kotoko took to social media to register their displeasure on the tackle made on their prized asset.
