  • Fans want Stuart Baxter and Bernard Parker to give youngsters a chance in the Kaizer Chiefs squad
  • Bernard Parker received a lot of praise for his performance in the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates
  • Some fans still think Bernard Parker should retire while he is on top, so he doesn't undo the hard work he's done over the years

Bernard Parker’s showing in the Soweto Derby has got everyone talking, but not all of that talk has been positive.

Following his man-of-the-match performance for Kaizer Chiefs against Orlando Pirates, Amakhosi coach Stuart Baxter called on fans to show Bernard Parker more respect.

As reported by Sport24, Baxter spoke about Parker’s love for the Kaizer Chiefs and how if you cut him open, he’d bleed black and gold.

Kaizer Chiefs also shared a special video on their Twitter account, in which they shared Parker’s best moments from the game, as well as an emotional interview with him after the game.

After Baxter made the call to fans to respect Parker, readers have shared their thoughts on the matter. While many praised Parker for his dedication, others believed that he needed to move aside and give more youngsters a chance to shine for the Amakhosi.

Here's how readers reacted to the story:

Seth Ramotsile Motshwane:

"He has closed the space for youngsters like Ngcobo, Radebe and others. Mfundo Vilakazi should also get a run in the first team. Parker should resign, period."

Siyabulela Mathundela:

"He was superb on Saturday yoh, the guy really loves Kaizer Chiefs, but the truth is that all the good things come to an end."

Mkhize Mfihlo:

"We do want/we do respect him the problem is you Madala, you don't know when Parker is needed on the field. Even if the game is not on his side on that day, you let him play and end up getting humiliated because of you old man."

Xolisa Leon Neti:

"We all do respect and appreciate the contribution Parker added to the team but we can't rely on old players. We need to groom the future for the continuity"

Azania Umahlabawethu Malangane:

"We want him to retire, simply before he ruins the good things he has done for the club"

Gracias Mndebele:

"Bhudi wami please retire otherwise the club will go down the drain. Go and ask Ronaldo, everyone is blaming him for Manchester's poor form. Give young boys the chance to get used to playing for the team otherwise, Chiefs will struggle for the next 50 years to win cups."

Stuart Baxter wants fans to show Bernard Parker respect, Die Hond proves doubters wrong with his performance

Bernard Parker was instrumental in helping Kaizer Chiefs beat Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby, and Stuart Baxter believes that the player deserves more respect for his performances, Sports Brief reported.

At 35-years-old, fans have taken to criticising Die Hond of late, believing that he should hang up his boots. But Bernard Parker turned back the years on Saturday in the derby, as he showed that he’s still got it.

As IOL put it, Die Hond had a bite to match his bark, as he was a maestro in the midfield. Stuart Baxter thinks that fans, despite their opinion of Parker, should recognise just how much he loves the club, Sport24 reported.
