World Cup Qualifiers: AFCON Goal King Leads Strong Cameroon Team Named by New Coach to Face Algeria
- Rigobert Song has named his squad for the crucial World Cup playoff against Algeria later this month
- The Cameroon coach kept most of the players from the Africa Cup of Nations as Cameroon hopes to make an eight appearance at the World Cup
- Cameroon will hosts Algeria in the first-leg before travelling to Algiers for the second-leg with the winner qualifying for the World Cup
Rigobert Song is preparing rigorously for his first assignment as coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon after naming his squad for the Algeria clash later this month.
The five times African champions named a squad similar to the Nations Cup squad to represent the country in the final round of qualifiers.
AFCON goal king Vincent Abubakar leads a list of 38 man team which will be pruned to 28 before the games on March 25 and March 29, 2022.
Only three new players, Jeando Fuchs, Gael Ondoa and Olivier Ntcham were included in the team used by former coach Antonio Conceição.
Song, who replaced Antonio Conceição after the Africa Cup of Nations in expected to qualify the country to their eight World Cup in Qatar.
Cameroon will hosts Algeria in Yaoundé on March 25, 2022 before travelling to Algiers for the second leg on March 29, 2022.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Rigobert Song has made the task of convincing Manchester United youngster Anthony Elanga and Youssoufa Moukoko of Dortmund a priority ahead of his first game against Algeria.
Cameroon will face Algeria in a two-legged game later this month for a place in the World Cup in Qatar this year.
