FootballFormer Manchester United Star ‘Attacks’ Ralf Rangnick Over Ronaldo's Injury Claims
- Roy Keane is not pleased with Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick following the Red Devils’ loss to Manchester City
- Rangnick earlier provided an update claiming Cristiano Ronaldo would be unavailable due to problems with his hip flexor
- Keane says such excuse does not add up to him, as the former player insisted that there was more to the CR7 situation
A former Manchester United star Roy Keane has questioned Ralf Rangnick’s idea of not fielding Cristiano Ronaldo as they lost 4-1 to fierce rivals Manchester City, Mirror reports.
Keane says the manager’s comment that Ronaldo is having a problem with his hip flexor does not add up, insisting there is more to it.
Man City boosted their Premier League title chances after they secured an emphatic win over rivals Man United at Etihad Stadium.
A brace each by Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez were enough to win it for Pep Guardiola’s side as Jadon Sancho’s first-half equaliser eventually turned out to be a consolation.
But before the game, Rangnick had provided an update about his squad revealing Ronaldo had problems with his hip flexor on Friday and wasn't able to train.
He told Sky Sports:
"Cristiano had some problems with his hip flexor on Friday and since then, he didn’t train."
But former United midfielder Keane isn't convinced about Ronaldo's injury given his renowned longevity
"The surprise is Ronaldo with the problem with his hip flexor, but United have a bit of pace they still have to come out and play with pride and quality.
"Elanga is a good player, positive and is an intelligent player.
"There seems to be something more with the Ronaldo situation, the manager coming out talking about something about his hip flexor but the man is a machine and is rarely injured, but every now and again he comes out with that about his hip flexor, doesn’t add up to me."
